AndBible for iOS: The Public Beta Is Here

For years, one of the most frequent requests we have received has been for an iOS version of AndBible. We’re glad to say that it is now within reach: the AndBible iOS public beta is open.

In the Q2/Q3 roadmap we mentioned this effort, which had been growing quietly for some time. It has now reached the point where anyone with an iPhone or iPad can install AndBible and try it — and it runs nicely on Apple Silicon Macs (macOS) as well. This is an early MVP: it currently covers only a subset of the Android version’s features, so expect some gaps and rough edges. Even so, the core is there: powerful, offline Bible study on Apple devices, free and open source as always.

Our thanks go to Jared Murrell (Primetheus), who has done the work on the iOS port over a long period. It’s a significant milestone for the project, and the credit for this release belongs entirely to him.

If you try the beta, please share your feedback and report issues on GitHub — every report helps us on the way to a 1.0 release.

Finally, it’s worth noting that work has now begun on unifying the Android and iOS codebases so the two can share a common foundation, and I am now actively involved in that effort. As part of this, AndBible’s user interface will also get a significant update (Material 3). Once the shared codebase is in place, we expect the two versions to reach full feature parity. I’ll have more to say about it soon, in our upcoming quarterly report and the roadmap update that will be published alongside it.
