AndBible for iOS: Now Available on the App Store

Back in July, we announced the public beta of AndBible for iOS — our answer to one of the most frequent requests we’ve received over the years. Today we’re happy to say the beta phase is over: AndBible for iOS is out, and you can download it right now from the App Store.

It runs on iPhone, iPad, Apple Silicon Macs, and Apple Vision Pro.

From early MVP to (almost) feature-complete

When we launched the beta, we described it as an early MVP — functional, but with gaps and rough edges. Since then the iOS app has come a long way: it’s now close to feature-complete, bringing over most of what AndBible users on Android already rely on:

  • Multiple Bible translations, commentaries and dictionaries, with split-view for comparing versions side by side
  • Strong’s concordance integration for digging into the original Greek and Hebrew
  • Full-text search across your installed documents
  • Bookmarks, highlights and personal notes
  • Reading plans with progress tracking and memorization modes
  • Text-to-speech
  • Cross-device sync via your own iCloud, Nextcloud or WebDAV account
  • Access to the same library as on Android — 1,500+ documents in 700+ languages
  • An optional AI study assistant, if you bring your own API key

As always: AndBible is free, open source, has no ads, and doesn’t collect your data.

None of this would have happened without Jared Murrell (Primetheus), who did the heavy lifting on the iOS port. Thank you, Jared.

What’s next: one codebase, two platforms

The bigger goal behind the iOS port was never just “AndBible, but also on iPhones” — it’s building toward a single, shared codebase that powers both the Android and iOS apps. That work is progressing well, and our target is a unified release around Q1 2027.

As a first step in that direction, the Android app itself is getting a user interface refresh — moving to Material 3 — and we expect that to land already in Q4 2026. It’s the groundwork that makes a shared UI across both platforms realistic.

Try it, and tell us what you think

If you’ve been waiting for AndBible on iOS, now’s the time. Grab it from the App Store, and if you run into bugs or missing features, let us know on GitHub — that feedback is exactly what will get us the rest of the way to feature parity and, eventually, that unified release.
